Working with a returning client is truly exhilarating and an honor. Having successfully completed a project involving the renovation and expansion of their previous property, we have now been instructed to create the transformation of their new residence into a contemporary living space with an emphasis on open-plan living.
The existing property, a bungalow untouched for many years, is situated on a plot that was previously divided by the former owner. This individual constructed a new house in the expansive rear garden, providing separate access from the road behind. This fortunate arrangement allows us to sensibly treat this property as a distinct plot.
To bring this dwelling up-to-date, both in terms of living arrangements and compliance with the latest Building Regulations for sustainability, we embarked on a comprehensive process. Stripping away substantial portions of the building enabled us to redesign the space and give it a modern external facelift.
The garage on the side has been replaced with a much-needed storage area for sports equipment. A wing dedicated to bedrooms houses three double bedrooms, a well-lit passageway with flat roof windows, and ample storage in the anteroom. A sitting room with an adjacent study provides a cozy retreat. The central social space features a family kitchen, dining area, and living room, all seamlessly connected to the terrace and garden through generous sliding doors. A guest suite with ensuite facilities is positioned at the rear, offering access to the gardens.
Stairs, illuminated by a large roof light, ascend past a full-height glazed window from the lobby to the Principal Bedroom occupying the top floor. This spacious area includes a large sleeping space, study, dressing room, and ensuite.
The exterior is adorned with a palette of white render, cedar cladding, and timber detailing. Positioned in a tranquil location, this beautiful home contributes to the ongoing trend of modernizing properties along the road.
