Country Eco Residence
A Concept Design for a cutting-edge, environmentally conscious luxury residence in the countryside to replace a dilapidated property consisting of two semi-detached houses, situated in the greenbelt.
The site is nestled in the serene Dorset Countryside, encompassing 10 acres of predominantly pasture fields. The location presents an idyllic backdrop, offering the potential to create something truly extraordinary. The surroundings include various outbuildings and are adjacent to a working sheep farm and a private runway for light aircraft.
The objective for the house was to craft a contemporary country home that seamlessly integrates with its environment while prioritizing environmental sustainability. Early in the design process, emphasis was placed on incorporating and promoting the use of renewable energy, aligning with the latest Building Regulations to address overheating in modern homes.
Solar energy played a pivotal role in the design, with the south-facing roof on the front elevation providing ample space for high-efficiency solar panels, harnessing the sun's energy to power the building. Cross ventilation was integrated into the property through dual-aspect fenestration in the rooms, sheltered by strategically designed overhangs, including first-floor balconies. Additionally, rainwater harvesting was implemented to supply water to the building.
The plan involved demolishing existing buildings on the site to make way for the new eco-friendly home. By showcasing the potential for additional space through permitted development, we conceived a design that not only met the highest standards of luxury living but also harmonized with the natural surroundings, utilizing a palette of natural materials.
The proposed residence boasts an indoor swimming complex and gymnasium housed in an existing barn, which itself would undergo redevelopment as part of the overall scheme. This comprehensive approach aims to deliver a truly magnificent luxury home while prioritizing environmental responsibility and sustainable living.
