Planning Approval - Bespoke Extension
In a Bournemouth urban setting characterized by spacious houses boasting generous gardens, a unique opportunity arose to enhance the rear space of this particular property. The homeowners, a design-led couple residing in the meticulously adorned house decorated with their own artistic masterpieces, were keen on transforming their living space.
Recognising the untapped potential, we conceptualized a design featuring a single-storey, extensively glazed extension. This addition created a seamless open-plan environment encompassing a luxurious kitchen, dining area, and living room. Floor-to-ceiling doors provided direct access to the expansive rear garden, blending the indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly.
Our design incorporated flat roof glass lanterns strategically placed to channel natural light into the heart of the house. This not only preserved but enhanced the existing light levels, contributing to a bright and inviting atmosphere throughout.
Within the interior, there is a sense of expansiveness, and the incorporation of various materials is encouraged. This is exemplified by the timber-clad wall seamlessly extending from the external finish, creating a harmonious connection between the interior and exterior.
The envisioned extension is designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing structure without compromising the architectural nuances of the original house. It manages to preserve the distinctive details of the initial design while introducing a contemporary twist, resulting in an ideal fusion of old and new.
