DESIGNER DIGS
DORSET
Redevelopment - Nearing Completion
Designing homes poses its own set of challenges, but undertaking the redesign of an existing property for a family deeply entrenched in the design world, with a discerning eye for detail, is truly invigorating. Situated in close proximity to Christchurch, this weary chalet bungalow entered the market and immediately captured the attention of our clients, who recognized its potential both in terms of the home itself and its enviable location.
Working collaboratively with the family throughout the entire design process was an honor, exchanging ideas and maximizing the utilization of various spaces. Despite the surprising reservations from the Local Planning Department during the initial design phase, particularly given the precedent of approved similar schemes in the area, a united front between the clients and our team successfully navigated the concerns, ultimately securing Planning Approval with some minor adjustments.
As the project nears completion, the rejuvinated design presents a sleek, contemporary ambiance when viewed from the road. Internally, the layout has undergone a comprehensive revitalisation, starting from the moment one enters the front door. The flow seamlessly progresses past a study, living room, and an open staircase naturally illuminated by a sizeable skylight above. It leads into the expansive open-plan space housing the kitchen, dining area, and living space, with large sliding doors opening onto the terrace and garden beyond.
The first floor has also undergone a remarkable transformation, now featuring two double bedrooms alongside a family bathroom. This level is finished with a stunning Principal Bedroom, complete with concealed wardrobes and an ensuite. A French balcony under the apex window adds a charming touch during warmer months.
Collaborating on this project was a privilege, and we sincerely hope the clients derive immense joy from their transformed home for years to come.
